About me

Yes, it’s my real name.

I earned a degree in journalism from Boston University’s College of Communication and spent a few years as a newspaper reporter before going freelance. That was longer ago than I care to admit. Since then, I’ve written millions of words – many of them focusing on the ways that business and technology intersect and occasionally collide.

I’ve been online since before most people knew what “online” was, and I’ve been a member of the WELL, one of the oldest online communities, since 1992. This probably explains how I’ve ended up spending so much time writing about business and technology. But that’s certainly not the only thing I write about.

In the last few years alone, I’ve explored how business is responding to a 50-year high in income inequality, examined the fashion industry’s urgent need to tackle its sustainability challenges, told tourists about San Francisco’s most unusual ice cream flavors, and explained why I’m donating my body to forensic science (though not, I hope, any time soon).
